At first glance, the brutal murder of 49-year-old James Turel looked like the clumsy handiwork of a burglar, but there was more -- much more -- to the wealthy businessman's homicide. There were all the ingredients to make an Agatha Christie novel: sex, greed, jealousy, resentment.

Wow, I have so much to say about it. I couldn't put it down, you are an excellent writer with the most remarkable determination to grow your Dad's business in the face of all odds. There are many lessons in the book. There are truly evil people in the world against whom one can only find some shred of fairness by their own resources and determination. The debt owed your father and family for the premeditated killing and the ongoing efforts to terrorize his family, at public expense no less, is far from being paid. Justice has not been served.

Thank you for sharing your story with me. Its lessons are burned in my brain.

Plague of Justice is a true story written by Stan Turel, the son of a business owner who is found beaten to death in his office. It is the epitome of the words 'Fact is stranger than fiction'.  His father's death is ruled a murder, but with limited evidence and no clear motive, police investigators have little to work with.  Stan has suspicions about possible motives and persons potentially involved and begins a personal quest to find the truth and assist investigators.

Stan is a young man when his father is found dead.  He is an entrepreneur with a new business and a serious girlfriend.  He has no interest in being part of his father's company and his sights are set in a completely different direction.  The murder of his father would change his life in every aspect.

Thrown into the responsibility of handling a family business for which he has little working knowledge, he must not only quickly learn the business, but search for possible clues that could lead to a killer.  When information points to someone close, Stan begins a dangerous 'cat and mouse' game to prove his suspicions.

But the story does not end with finding the evidence and making an arrest.  The actual trial has surprising twists and the subsequent conviction leads to even more bizarre actions by the individual convicted.

While this book is a true story surrounding a murder investigation, it is also intertwined with personal life events during the same timeframe.  Because it is written from a first person perspective, the writer incorporates romance, humor, achievements and failures as he contends with day-to-day life over the course of the story. This aspect sets it apart from many other true crime novels and makes the story both intriguing and entertaining.  I truly enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates the human ability to persevere through personal tragedy and defy the odds.
